Branch ornament with variscite stone:
Designer: Heather Guidero
Materials: white bronze with patina, variscite
stone, organdy ribbon. each ornament will have a unique, hand
picked stone.
The ornament is approximately 2" long
and .5" deep. It can also be strung on a favorite chain
as a pendant.
Variscite is a somewhat hard to find stone,
usually found in varying shades of green. The stones picked
for this edition of the branch ornament are a minty green. Because
they are truly unique pieces, these ornaments are available
individually for $26.
This ornament is a result of my explorations
in casting both natural objects (the branch)and vintage jewelry
components (the flowering element). Rhode Island has a strong
tradition of jewelry manufacturing. By collecting and reusing
what were once commercially produced jewelry components out
of dusty supply warehouses, I am able to revive and reuse them
in new ways.
artist bio: Heather Guidero is a jeweler and freelance designer
in Providence, Rhode Island. A 2002 graduate of the RISD Jewelry
+ Metalsmithing department, she worked as a goldsmith in New
York for 3 years before returning to Rhode Island to focus on
her own collections.
